Configurator

The home screen of Variant is the primary tools that enables responsive sales by providing a 3D viewable of a user’s selections almost instantly.

The configurator is comprised of two portions - the viewer and the menus.

The Viewer

Powered by Autodesk Forge, the Viewer loads in the viewable assets of the generated Inventor model. A variety of tools enable the user to interact with and verify the product with the selections they’ve made.

Available tools include: the view cube and home, pan, zoom, measure, section analysis, explode, model browser, and properties, as well as multiple viewing modes and settings.

The Menus

Within the configurator, there are three menus: the product menu, the configuration menu, and the specifications menu.

Product Menu

The product menu contains the available product selection and allows the user to select the desired item for configuration.

Configuration Menu

Selections are made by the user on the configuration menu. The selection menu is also where the user generates the outputs once finished making their selections.

Specification Menu

Verifying the specifications, the output menu also offers the options to export needed items, as well as to save or order the configured product.

Updating the Output

While some models may appear generated as selections are made, the outputs are not created until the user clicks “generate”. On this trigger, Variant uses Forge to update the model and produce the specified outputs.
